Version 1.1.0 introduces a substantially improved processing pipeline designed around three core principles: reliability for large conversations, privacy-first local processing, and a faster document workflow.

Direct access to private ChatGPT conversations
One of the biggest changes in 1.1.0 is the ability to sign in to ChatGPT directly from ChatExport.
Previously, the primary workflow relied on ChatGPT shared links. Version 1.1.0 extends the workflow to conversations from a user’s own logged-in ChatGPT account, including private conversations and custom-GPT links that were previously inaccessible through the standard shared-link workflow.
A new streaming export pipeline
Large AI conversations can contain thousands of messages, substantial amounts of formatted text, images, code blocks and other embedded content.
Version 1.1.0 changes how these exports are generated.
Instead of requiring the entire resulting document to remain in memory during the export process, ChatExport now streams generated exports directly to the device as they are created. This makes the system substantially better suited to large and image-heavy conversations.
The new approach is particularly important for conversations containing:
- large amounts of text
- many images
- long code blocks
- tables
- complex formatting
- very long conversation histories
The goal is simple:
Large conversations should be limited by available storage, not by an unnecessarily large in-memory representation of the entire export.
Rebuilt around document fidelity
ChatExport’s rendering pipeline is designed to preserve the structure of the original AI conversation instead of treating it as plain text.
The application supports rich content including:

Local-first architecture

The application is designed so that conversations are parsed and stored locally on the user’s device, with encrypted storage. ChatExport states that conversation data is not uploaded to its servers and that it does not collect users’ chats. Apple currently lists the app’s privacy declaration as “Data Not Collected.”
